Hang on to your assets – top tips for retaining great talent!
Retaining good talent is far cheaper and wiser than recruiting and training new staff, especially in a tight labour market. (not that we want to do ourselves out of a job!). Here are some top tips to help you keep your top people.
Press the right buttons - Take the time to understand what motivates your staff, only then can you make sure you’re pressing all the right buttons to retain them.
Get it right at management level – “People join companies but they leave managers” – ensure your management team are trained and skilled to manage their teams and your talent most effectively.
Have fun! - Make sure your workplace is a fun environment, your staff spend a lot of time at work, and so do you! Value and place emphasis on work/life balance for you and your staff!
Communication is key - Ensure open and honest communication is available throughout the company.
Value - People want to feel valued, feeling appreciated is one of the key reasons people work for an organisation. Companies and managers who praise their staff enjoy a more positive culture and increased productivity.
Respect - Treat employees with respect and fairness – ask them what they think – value their contribution.
The right people in the right jobs - Put people in jobs they love – what they love they’re good at.
Train and develop - Give your staff continual opportunities to learn and grow. This means providing them with the opportunity to take the initiative as well as giving them the opportunity to learn and grow by attending training courses and internally through coaching and mentoring.
Give a little - Consider flexible working hours, casual dress days, buying your staff lunch, saying thank you or well done with a card, a letter or a gift.
Create a social network – one of the strongest attachments employees have to their organisation is their fellow workers, create an environment where employees can get to know each other on a more personal level, not only will it boost moral, you’ll create closer team culture.
Retaining your talent doesn’t have to be all of the above, you’re probably doing some of it already, if you keep close to your people and hear what they’re saying, your retention answers are there.
Dancing with Delta
Fresh from being left broken-hearted by tennis bad boy Mark Philippoussis, (as well as suffering the embarrassment of being traded in for Paris Hilton) Delta Goodrem was evidently on the prowl at the Aria's after-party hosted by the exclusive Establishment nightclub.
The Daily Telegraph reported "Delta was seen canoodling and dancing with an elegant blond gentleman". Well, we can exclusively reveal the identity of the mystery blond gent of distinction, it was none other than Beaumont Consulting's very own Neil Hanson - A man of exquisite taste and discretion...it took him ages to finally admit his idea of dancing with Delta was drunkenly making eyes at her from 10 feet while avoiding the attention of her 6.9" bodyguard!
Neil was provided an 'all access' Aria's ticket courtesy of Time Life, who have appreciated Neil's assistance over the last year in recruiting a variety of call centre and sales and marketing staff. A great night was had by all, and while he failed to charm Delta, he did get talking to a variety of Australian Idol wannabees on the red carpet. Go Neilos!

Mastering Your Motivation
Another sensational evening hosted by Beaumont and presented by Oxygen Learning . Look at all those happy smiling faces.... nothing to do with the complimentary champagne served before the presentation.

Little did we know we have some "ninja's" amongst our clients…

Pictured here is Stephen Standish showing off his newly acquired skills. One of our loyal clients, Stephen is General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Jackgreen, a new retailer of environmentally friendly electricity.
