The workforce of tomorrow?
It’s a candidate short market as it is, though the trend is set to continue for quite some time according to Assessment Edge who facilitated a very interesting client workshop for us during November.
The future workforce demographic within the Asia Pacific region indicates it being top heavy in terms of age, with a dwindling pool of generation X (currently under 30) and a severe decline in generation Y (currently under 25) talent. The full impact is difficult to predict, but one thing is for certain, there are markedly different attitudes, values, and expectations in regard to work.
Flexibility, job satisfaction, leisure time feature high on the list of priorities for generation X workers, with generation Y workers even more demanding and focused on the self: entrepreneurial in their motivation, they require a lot of personal growth and development to keep them satisfied.
Retention, as always, will be a major focus for employers moving forward: workplace relationships, organisational limitations and selection practices being three key focus areas for Human Resource professionals to concentrate on:
“The organisations that will thrive in the new reality are those with employees that have the option to leave but choose to stay…Those that fail, will be populated by employees who are only there because they are afraid to go elsewhere” – Noer (1997)
Some critical questions employers should be asking themselves include:
-
What does the picture for us look like in the next 5-10 years?
-
Do we have a satisfied and engaged workforce?
-
Is our approach to workforce management proactive or reactive?
If you missed the workshop and would like the full presentation emailed to you, please contact Debbie Jenkins our Office Manager or your favourite consultant, and we will gladly arrange.
And don’t discount travellers for longer term roles
Leading on quite nicely….We are experiencing a very candidate short market right now and finding the right candidate is becoming a greater challenge.
As a number of the Beaumont team are expats, we are a fine example of how a diverse and multicultural workforce can create an outstanding and productive company.
We now have the opportunity to extend the time that travellers on working holiday visas can work for you. We can arrange sponsorship through a third party at no cost to yourselves for up to 4 years.
There are of course, rules that apply, and not everyone is eligible for sponsorship. To find out more, please call your favorite consultant on 02 9279 2777.
Make do Diva’s!
Randwick was graced by the presence of the Beaumont Consulting team on Melbourne Cup day and we had a wonderful day!
We didn’t get to mix with the maddening crowds in the cheap seats this time round, instead we had to make do with being wined and dined trackside in the exclusive Shannon Lawn BBQ area. Unfortunately we didn’t win much money, not helped by the boss insisting we all back an old nag called ‘Miss Nikki’ which cantered across the finish line in 4th place!

Temp of the Month
Outstanding performance from our temps doesn’t go unnoticed. We truly appreciate their efforts and therefore would like to acknowledge the great work they are doing for us.
Our November Temp of the Month award goes to Maura Pigeon. Maura has done a number of temporary jobs for Beaumont, most recently at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) where her manager says “Maura is outstanding! She is a committed and dedicated worker who will do anything without complaining". So congratulations to Maura.
Maura is pictured here whilst on assignment at IFAW. She gets a $100 voucher from Myer.

Joke of the month
A man goes to the zoo.
When he gets there, there was only a dog.
It was a Shitzu.

We can help fill your Christmas Stockings…
Our Neil, the talented journalist and budding writer came up with this little jingle, all in the Christmas spirit… we think it’s funny!
With the advent of Christmas not far away
Santa thought it time to dust down his sleigh
Rudolf was willing, he'd shed a few pounds
Ready for the trip, and the present-delivery rounds
The same could not be said for Santa's workshop crew
A mixed bag of recruits, with seemingly little to do
A large stack of unwrapped presents remained undisturbed
With Christmas night looming, Rudolf became perturbed
"But what am I to do?" a despairing Santa cried
"They're supposed to be motivated, though the agency obviously lied!"
Rudolf pondered, and made a recommendation
He'd heard of an agency that were quite a sensation!
"Give Beaumont Consulting a bell, they'll be the key
To ensuring all presents are wrapped, safe under the tree"
Santa made the call, though was all of a dither
Would Beaumont Consulting really deliver?
Efficient Christmas elves were quickly supplied
All presents were ready, & it could not be denied
That Beaumont Consulting had indeed saved Christmas day...
As wise Ruldolf and Santa went on their merry way...
Need quality people to help fill your Christmas stocking?
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to hearing from you in the New Year, with warm regards, the Beaumont Team.
