Do you have an effective People Strategy in place?
This month, Beaumont Consulting was thrilled to host a presentation by Anthony Sork of HCM Global , on how to attract and attach the best staff for your business. Anthony’s presentation made some great points about the importance of a proper recruitment and induction strategy for new employees. Other points from the presentation were that:
-
The skill shortage is here to stay;
-
Talent has become recognised as the main source of competitive advantage, yet most people do not have an effective people strategy; and
-
The estimated cost of employee turnover is conservatively 3 x base salary
Be on the Constant Lookout
So in order to avoid the losses to business and productivity that occur with high levels of staff turnover, the message coming from HCM Global was that talent needs to be snapped up: rather than waiting for positions to become available, companies need to recognise valuable talent when they see it, and they also need to actively seek it. Recruiting talent should be happening all the time, not only when someone resigns!
Working in Partnership
Working with a recruitment agency means that the strain and stress of recruitment is removed, and you will have someone to proactively present top calibre candidates to you, AND represent your business in the best light to the candidates. These days, selling your business to the right candidates is important, and you need somebody who knows your company well enough to direct the best talent to your door.

Camp Quality - Chandon Supper Club
The Beaumont Team were very spoilt this month, with a great evening out to support Camp Quality. First on the evening’s agenda was a fabulous dinner at the wonderful Aqua Dining, followed by drinks and dancing at Bungalow 8. We at Beaumont Consulting were extremely pleased to be able to support such a worthy charity – in such fine style!
Camp Quality, which provides fun therapy for children living with cancer, first partnered with Domaine Chandon in 2004 to bring Chandon Supper Club to Sydney following the success of a similar concept in London. The event hopes to raise over $900,000 for Camp Quality.
As you know, Beaumont Consulting supports Camp Quality with a range of initiatives and events. Watch this space for details of our City to Surf sponsorship.

Care to dance?
Beaumont Consulting is interested in hearing from companies who would like to partner with us to create synergy and add value to our service offering.
If you have a product or service that can help our candidates fast track their careers, we would like to hear from you. Please email Philippa.
And finally . . .
Beaumont Consulting’s FAVOURITE desktop tool this month has been Lillian Too’s Little Book of Feng Shui at Work. For anyone who needs an excuse to move things around on their desk, this book offers some absolute gems – and as Ms Too points out in her introduction, "Feng shui can truly help you to harness the positive energies that reinforce good career luck. It costs you nothing to try . . ."
Our favourites:
Maintain yin/yang balance in your office. Yin, receptive energy, is cool and passive; yang, creative energy, is bright and active. Workplaces that are dominated by grey could be excessively yin- introduce some yang energy with plants or colourful paintings.
Reduce clutter to encourage harmony. Do not allow your workspace to get untidy or dirty. Clutter is often a cause of misunderstandings and disharmony among colleagues.
Keep the front of your desktop clear. Irrespective of what direction it represents, always keep the space directly in front of you empty of files, objects or any energisers. Anything placed here will symbolically block your luck.
Feng shui your desk. Place flowers, a small leafy plant or a green coloured object in the east or south east for success and prosperity; place something blue in the north to activate career luck; place your computer, your telephone or your calculator in the northwest or west to activate the luck of powerful friends or influential mentors; place a smooth crystal ball in the southwest to ensure pleasant and congenial relationships with your subordinates, colleagues and peers.
