Accounting Division Launch

Beaumont Consulting celebrated the launch of its Accounting Division at The Argyle last month, with speeches from Nikki Beaumont, Adam Grima, who is heading up the division, and Anthony Sork, Director of Sork HC.

We also teamed up with the McGrath Foundation and with the help of BridgeClimb, who donated a BridgeClimb for 2, we managed to raise $400 for them. It was a great beginning to what we hope will be another successful addition to the team.

We had some lovely feedback that we would like to share also:

“Beaumont Consulting is a breath of fresh air in a stale and overcrowded market”

“Fantastic event in support of an outstanding charitable organisation!”

“Terrific evening! Great to partner with the McGrath Foundation. My experience with Beaumont Consulting has been short but refreshing. As a boutique organisation compared to other main stream agencies Beaumont Consulting are like your favourite local coffee shop versus Starbucks – Beaumont are a much smoother latte”

Beaumont Complimentary Events and Training

As you may be aware, Beaumont Consulting is holding a number of complimentary training sessions and presentations for our clients over the coming months. These can now be viewed on our website and you can email your booking from there.

sick

Bored workers more likely to take sick leave

Employers looking to minimize “sickies” need to lock in fair pay and workplace policies, and remove unpleasant workplace factors in order to maximize staff attendance.

It’s said that one in five workers take sick leave when they are not really sick, at an estimated annual cost to Australian businesses exceeding $2 billion.

Factors that encourage sick days include:

  • Employees who are bored with their work or unclear about what is expected of them
  • Workers who are unhappy with their work conditions and tasks
  • Employees who have poor relationships with their co-workers or clients
  • The individual's level of reliability and integrity.

Employers should address these workplace factors if they suspect workers are abusing their sick leave entitlements. If there are things in the workplace that are unpleasant or negative, then obviously enhancing those factors is going to reduce the amount of false sick leave.

Addressing workplace culture could also alleviate increased absence. Having a clear policy that requires a medical certificate for sickness may be helpful. Workers will be discouraged from taking non-genuine sick leave if they have to provide medical certificates, and this can in turn shift workplace attitudes about it. Most employees want to "conform to the sickie norm", and they might take more sick days than average if the workplace has a relaxed attitude towards taking sick leave when not sick.

Employers should also apply their policies fairly and equitably and pay employees fairly. If people feel that the organisation treats people in general - or them specifically - unfairly, then they are not going to feel so bad about treating the organisation unfairly in return.

Of course, in the first instance, employers can minimise abuse of sick leave by assessing the integrity of candidates during pre-employment screening.

Article from HR Daily

temp

Temp of the Month

Once again we have had some lovely feedback about our February temps, but it is Richelle Ramsay who is temping at the University of Western Sydney that has won us over.

The feedback from two of her separate supervisors at the University are just glowing – thanks Richelle.

Anne Ballard – “Richelle has an outstanding attendance record and always reports to work on time. She is very flexible and has a wonderful co operative attitude to her work. Richelle works very well both in a team environment and autonomously, has excellent attention to detail and we have enjoyed watching her improve her skills whilst working at the University.”

Maree Brown – “Richelle displays great flexibility in her work and is keen and co operative at all times. I would rate Richelle as an excellent performer who easily completes any task given to her. Richelle is a pleasure to work with and manage.”

A special mention must also go to Michelle McCarron .

Michelle performs to a ‘consistently outstanding standard. She always meets and exceeds her KPIs. Michelle does not hesitate to work overtime, she is efficient in all of her work and is helpful with new staff. What a good team player’. Thanks for all of your hard work Michelle, what a star!
