tempTemp of the month
Every month we give our clients the opportunity to nominate temporary staff for our temp of the month award. The lucky winner of the Beaumont Temp of the Month Award receives gift vouchers, an award certificate and a bottle of wine.
This month the lucky winner is… James Nicol. James has been working for us at the same company for the past 7 months. James made a great impression on his Managers from the start and has gone from strength to strength in his position. James’ Team Leaders have nothing but praise for him and had some great feedback for us on James’ performance… "James has been a valuable asset to us in the last month, taking on new administrative tasks with ease and tackling a new outbound campaign. Nothing is ever a problem for James and he is always eager to learn more and do more, pleasantly surprising us with his quick grasp of concepts and program information. James is willing to go the extra mile for customers and communicates extremely well ensuring a great customer experience and a running 100% score in his call coaching. Staying within his call times is no problem for James and this month he has been on time every single day!." Thanks James, you’ve done an amazing job, please keep up the hard work – your prize is on it’s way to you, enjoy!
Unfortunately, there can only be one temp of the month, however we would still like to say a HUGE thank you to our runner’s up… So, a big thank you goes to… Zara Smith. Here’s what Zara’s Manager had to say about her… "Zara has an excellent attitude and is a supportive and positive member of our team. She is hardworking and shows initiative by taking on extra tasks and looks at ways of improving processes to benefit the whole office. Zara is extremely reliable, she can be trusted to be on time to work, on time for breaks and follows through on commitments. She is open to taking on extra duties and is flexible when things change suddenly. Zara provides a good level of customer service and can be left to manage her workload independently."
And finally, a special mention must got to Jarlath McAteer who has completed various assignments for Beaumont, always with fantastic feedback. One of Jarlath’s recent Managers was heard to saying that Jarlath is ‘awesome’. Jarlath, you really are a temp superstar, thank you.
Vote, vote, vote for Beaumont
Beaumont Consulting have entered into this years SARA’s, (Seek Annual Recruitment Awards). This is the industry’s premier Award and is an opportunity for great recruitment agencies to be properly recognised and celebrated.
Jobseekers can vote for their favourite recruiters (like Beaumont ;0) hint hint..), which determines the SARA finalists and winners. Free from industry bias or influence, these Awards are a true reflection of performance as seen by the candidates.
The SARAs aim to both;
• Recognise and award the outstanding performance of recruitment agencies in Australia.
• Give jobseekers a chance to identify and vote for their favourite recruitment agency in 2009.
So, if we have impressed you this year, it would be very much appreciated if you could take just a minute to vote for us.
Discover the career for you
Whether you’re just leaving school or university, or have been stuck in a rut for years and want a change, choosing a future career is always a daunting decision. Some people know from the time they can talk what they want to be when they grow up. Others still don’t have a clue when they are in middle age. No matter where you are in life, here are some tips you can follow to prepare for any career path, or paths, you choose.
Know Yourself
To know what you would be good at and enjoy doing, you need to understand yourself. Take a personality assessment test. Many of these tests are available that match your personal traits with possible career choices. Some popular assessments are the Self-Directed Search, the Career Exploration Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. These self-tests can be found at most career websites or can be googled (nb: some involve a fee). Closely related to personality are personal values. Knowing your values will be very important to how well you adjust in a career.
Explore Career Fields
Many careers exist today that most people would never consider. Talk with a career counsellor at your school or college, or do some online research. Try interning, volunteering or shadowing a professional in a field that interests you. Not only will you gain experience, but you will also be able to decide if you would enjoy working in that career every day.
Learn Universal Knowledge and Skills
A broad education and basic skills can help you find success in almost any career. Good writing, communication, and computer skills are all valuable in today’s marketplace. Don’t just concentrate on skills needed for a specific career though, a diverse knowledge base and strong skill set will ensure an easier career transition in the future.
Turning Hobbies into Careers
If you didn’t have to work or worry about money, how would you spend your free time? You might pursue hobbies and passions or find new ones. If you love decorating and redecorating your home, take some art or interior design classes. Are you great at throwing parties? Then don't be afraid to pursue an event planning career. The idea is to take what you already enjoy doing and try to incorporate those interests into a career that you can be happy with right now.
Choosing a career path is an important decision. Keep in mind, however, taking one type of job now doesn't mean you'll stay there forever. Focus on your personality, skills and interests and find a career that is a perfect match.
There are numerous personality quizzes out there, but this one is quick and free so, click here and give it a go and see if it offers any interesting choices!
28,000 green-collar jobs on the way
Renewable energy and energy efficiency policies will directly create a net 28,230 jobs in Australia between 2010 and 2020, says a report by the Clean Energy Council.
The report, carried out by Access Economics, said the largest net gains would occur in Victoria and South Australia.
CEC chief executive, Matthew Warren, said the renewable energy industry was expected to create the majority of the new jobs, and energy efficiency schemes would also create over 4,000 jobs.
Most renewable energy jobs would be created between 2013 and 2018 when a lot of wind energy projects are under construction, the report said.
This is one of the top growth industries worth bearing in mind when considering careers.
