Miss Motivator
With summer just around the corner and the days starting to get longer – we should all be jumping out of bed with a spring in our step, motivated and energised for the day ahead.
If this doesn’t sound like you, the following tips will have you out of your winter hibernation just in time for summer:
-
To get your day off to the best start try sleeping with your blinds open a little so that you wake gradually and naturally by sunlight instead of being jolted out of deep sleep by an alarm.
-
Make sure you get a good 8 hours sleep and take advantage of the cool but sunny mornings by getting up half an hour early for a walk, jog or swim – it makes such a difference to your day and motivation levels if you start it with a little exercise and time to yourself before work.
-
Have a mug of hot water with fresh lemon while you are getting ready for work to cleanse your system
Stay motivated throughout even a difficult day by keeping a list of your favourite motivational quotes to hand. Here’s a few of Beaumont’s suggestions:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain
“It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect it’s successful outcome.” - William James
"If you believe you can, you probably can. If you believe you won't, you most assuredly won't. Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad." - Denis Waitley
"Don't just let your business or your job make something for you, let it make something of you." - Jim Rohn
"We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems." - Anonymous
"What a man accomplishes in a day depends upon the way in which he approaches his tasks. When we accept tough jobs as a challenge. . . and wade into them with joy and enthusiasm, miracles can happen. When we do our work with a dynamic conquering spirit, we get things done." — Arland Gilbert
"Know the true value of time; snatch, seize and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness. . . . never put off till tomorrow what you can do today." — Lord Chesterfield, English man of letters (1694-1773)
The Secret, Rhonda Byrne
Australian Television Writer and Producer Rhonda Byrne was listed among Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world which can be credited to the success of her best selling book, The Secret, released late in 2006 following the success of her DVD of the same name.
So what is The Secret and why has it been so popular?
The Secret is a self-help book that promises to help you make money/loose weight/find love/achieve job success, basically assist you to achieve what you desire.
The essence of The Secret is "The Law of Attraction"; when you think in harmony with something you attract it to you. For example, if you think about wealth, you will receive wealth, if you think about debt you will increase your debt. The basic principal is that your thoughts determine your destiny. "Your current reality or the current life is the result of the thoughts you have been thinking" (p71).
I believe that the attraction of the book is essentially that we all like to think we have control over our lives and our destinies and that the universe is working for us not against us.
However, there are flaws in "The Law of Attraction" and how Rhonda sets it out in The Secret which will come to light when you read the book. Flawed though "The Law of Attraction" may be, it is still a book that has taken the world by storm and has hopefully succeeded in helping people think more positively about their lives.
The power of positive thinking is a great tool that we all have the ability to use and this is a book that encourages you to do that.
Just imagine if it was as easy as thinking "I will get that promotion!"
Trying to save for Christmas Presents?
I know, I know, no one wants to think about Christmas shopping, but I am afraid to say that Christmas isn’t that far away!
In an uncharacteristic effort to be organised this year, not only for Christmas presents, but with money in general, I have come across this fabulous website that will have your finances organised in a flash. The website is www.buxfer.com and I have to say, it is just wonderful!
You can import bank statements and credit card statements, set up and manage budgets, keep track of who owes you money, or who you owe money to, as well as analysing wwere your hard earned cash is going!
Best of all, it is free, and simple to use. A definite bargain!
