February Temp of the Month

How is your Handshake?

Seriously, this is very important: with fewer and fewer interview opportunities available in this competitive market, it's essential to make the best possible first impression.

The two-second handshake that starts the interview is your first opportunity to create a great impression. But all too often an interview is blown right from the start by an ineffective handshake. Once you've delivered a poor handshake, it's really very difficult to recover your efforts to build a rapport. Here are some examples:

The Limp Hand (or "dead fish"): Gives the impression of disinterest or weakness.
The Tips of the Fingers: Shows lack of ability to engage.
The Arm Pump: Can characterize a person as overly aggressive, inconsiderate, and impolite.
The Sweaty Palm: Yuck: nerves are normal, but make sure you wipe!

Even if you're a seasoned professional, don't assume you have avoided these pitfalls. Your handshake may be telling more about you than you know. Just try a firm, solid grip. Practice on your friends - they may laugh now, but isn't it worth it for a professional handshake to help you make a good first impression?

We are moving offices!

We’re moving onwards and upwards! While we have been proud to share the same building as the salubrious Men’s Gallery for the last three years, we’ve run out of space and are keen to keep the business growing.

So, we will be moving over the Easter weekend. Our new address will be:
Level 6, 50 Margaret Street
Sydney NSW 2000

Not only does the new office space have windows, it also overlooks Wynyard Park.

Our contact numbers will be different so as soon as we have them we shall be updating you all and we will ensure we have some great photographs of our new pad in the next newsletter!

Joke of the Month

A yellow labrador walks into a job referral agency and asks if they have any openings for him. After the receptionist picks herself up off the floor she asks the dog to leave his resume and call back in an hour.

The dog places his resume on the counter and walks out.

As soon as the dog leaves the receptionist calls the Circus and asks if they can use a talking dog.

"Of course," says the owner, "send him down."

An hour later, the dog walks back into the agency and the receptionist yells that she has a job for the dog in the circus.

To which the dog replies, "What does the circus want with a carpenter?"

All very simple and saves the trees too.
