A Word from Nikki Beaumont

Welcome to this months edition of our newsletter.

The start of the new financial year is an exciting time in any business, here at Beaumont Consulting we've been looking forward to it for many reasons.  The planning for the new financial year always brings with it fresh ideas and enthusiasm and a new budget also allows us to focus our spending in to the areas that will create impact and opportunity.  We critique what we have achieved over the year and find new ways of improving what we do.

On the recruiting front, we have been optimistic that new budgets will allow more companies to recruit those roles that they have not been able to get sign off for that are now becoming business critical.  We are expecting new budgets to have accounted for extra headcount and companies are finding that areas of their business are starting to suffer from not having the right people in place.

So far this month we have certainly started to see that happening.  The feeling for many clients is that the green shoots are coming through.  Companies want to catch the best available talent before their competitors do to give themselves a head start.

Across our business, our permanent placements for July have increased 60% over June’s figures already and we still have a few more days.  We're predicting that July will be the best month for permanent hiring this calendar year, which is excellent news.

Internally we have been recruiting for the last few weeks as our plan is to continue to grow our business and to enable us to respond to the increasing job flow.  Where many of our competitors have and still are reducing headcount, we are very proud that hasn’t been the case for us, in fact we have just secured 4 new Senior Consultants.

We are launching our IT Division in the City with Mike Watson, a Senior International IT Consultant with over 23 years experience.  Rachael Burling is joining our growing City Temp Division and Santino Di Fede joins City Permanent Services.

In the North Shore, Julian Fellows will be joining Sarah,  our existing IT Consultant, to further develop our IT business across the North Shore.  Julian also has over 13 years experience in IT recruitment internationally. We are delighted to be able to secure some really great talent and experience, now is the time.

It's such an exciting time for us and for so many businesses.  The word out there is that we will come out of this downturn in 2 waves; the question is will you be on the first wave or the second when it comes to hiring the best talent?  We are already on the first, I invite you to join us.

Volunteer Opportunity

Do you have at least a day a week until the end of the year, or time to commit three days a week for a month?

If so, we may have a volunteer role that would be fantastic for you.

Cure Cancer Australia has been operating in Australia for over 40 years. Their uniqueness comes from the fact that they are the only Cancer Research charity that is entirely devoted to supporting Young Researchers at the beginning of their careers. They have funded close to 400 researchers, and these people have gone on to have exceptional careers, many of them absolutely making a difference and working on a cure for cancer.

Cure Cancer are looking for someone with research capability i.e.: web search and networking skills and great writing skills to extrapolate a fantastic story about these talented individuals and where these people are now. These researcher profiles will be used for Cure Cancer to fundraise and thank donors for their support.  If are interested, even if your available hours are unusual, please contact Leanne Warner – CEO of Cure Cancer on 02 9251 6188 or lwarner@cure.org.au.

Don’t forget Cure Cancer Australia sells Entertainment books for all regions so if you are interested call the office on 02 9251 0688

Networking Coach Gives Us the Edge

This month we had leading Sydney Networking Coach, Sean Grobbelaar, present his Effective Networking Workshop “Working the Room”.

Sean shared with us some valuable ideas, here are a few:

1. Research who is speaking, the type of people attending and who the host is
2. Embracing giving first is a great way to initiate relationships
3. Check your elevator pitch answers the question on people’s mind “What’s in it for me”
4. Keep conversations to 80% business.
5. Before giving out your business card find a reason to contact them after the event; make a recommendation or refer a contact, information or resources.

If you would like Sean the Networking Coach to run an Effective Networking Workshop for you, he can be contacted on 0422 917452 or sean@networkingcoach.com.au or download his FREE e-book at www.NetworkingCoach.com.au

Beaumont News – North Shore Branch

It’s been a busy month on the North Shore with a marked increase in permanent vacancies to work on, training for the City to Surf, client functions, networking, celebrations and a few laughs along the way!

We had a great attendance to our recent Chatswood client training - Recruitment & Selection Essentials. Many thanks to all those clients who came along and to Jodi for her expertise and knowledge in this area, the next session will be city based – 2nd September.

Our new Not For Profit division was recently featured in Pro Bono Australia, you can read the article here. Helen, our North Shore Not For Profit Consultant has had lots to celebrate this month with successfully completing her Certificate in Human Resources.

If you are part of the Woman’s North Shore Networking Group look out for Helen and Nicole who have recently joined. They will be looking for friendly faces and advice on how to survive the City to Surf!

We are also searching to find a replacement for the lovely Georgia who will be heading off on maternity leave in October. So if you know any exceptional Temp Recruitment Consultants who would be interested in joining the team, please point them in our direction!

Beaumont Consulting’s Charity Quiz Night

Beaumont Consulting is holding a fun filled evening of TRIVIA & PRIZES on Wednesday 26th August 2009 from 6.30pm to support SISTER2sister, a mentoring program helping disadvantaged and at risk teenagers based in Sydney and Melbourne.

Their yearly program provides girls with critical knowledge and skills to help them break the cycle of trauma and abuse.  To find out more visit the Life Changing Experience's Website.

Currently due to limited resources they can only assist 50 girls each year. Our mission is to raise more funding for SISTER2sister's projects so more disadvantaged teenage girls can gain access to this life changing program.

How can you help?

This can be in any of the following ways:

1) Donate a prize for the auction (anything would be greatly appreciated :0))

2) Get a team of Trivia Guru's together & participate in the trivia night itself - $120 for a table (8 people) Chatswood location.

3) A direct donation to SISTER2sister via our on line donations page.

If you can join us for the quiz please register ASAP as we expect tables to sell out quickly.  If you are able to offer a raffle prize, please drop Lucy Wells an email, or call Lucy on 02 9279 2777.

Temp of the Month

The North Shore office have received some fabulous feedback regarding our August temps but it is Polly Cummins who is the winner this month!

Polly has been temping for Beaumont Consulting for the last 2 months and in this time has proven herself to be a dedicated and outstanding performer! This is what our client had to say about Polly; "Polly has been such a massive value add for our business. Polly has supported our new campaigns and has helped increase our quality and raised awareness for our go to market positioning and offering." Well done Polly.

We have also had some wonderful comments on some other temporaries that can’t go without a mention:
Matias Ureta: "Matias assists fellow team members with enquiries, also assists with the training of new staff. He is always on time and sets an example for other staff members. He is willing to share his ideas with his team and to also work with processes put in place. He consistently meets all of his KPI's and is very reliable towards his job" Well Done Matias!

A big thank must got to Siobhan Campbell for her consistently high job performance, her actions above and beyond the call of duty, her cooperative attitude and her  concern for and helpfulness to other employees. Her current employer "couldn’t manage without her". Fantastic work!

And finally, Rebecca Martin. Our client couldn’t be happier with Rebecca and have made the following comments about her, "Rebecca has been an asset to our business and has thrived on offering as much support to our business as possible. Rebecca is very professional. We found that we could trust Rebecca to work with little if any supervision with her efforts simply outstanding. Her overall customer focus is strong, delivering a warm service to our customers". Outstanding thanks for all of your hard work Rebecca!!!
